Review of Social Security’s Compassionate Allowances program

Even when a San Diego resident takes every step to move the application along, obtaining disability benefits can take months or even years.

Many Californians don’t have the time or the resources to wait this long for their Social Security Disability payments, especially if they have sidelined from the workforce for a long time because of their illnesses or injuries.

The Compassionate Allowances program can speed up the claim process

As part of its efforts to reduce wait times, the Social Security Administration started the Compassionate Allowances program.

The Compassionate Allowances program gives people with certain medical conditions the chance to have their claims reviewed quickly so that they can get the benefits they need in a timely fashion.

Conditions which qualify a person for the Compassionate Allowances program are, in the eyes of the Social Security Administration, very serious conditions which qualify a person for disability benefits by their very nature, as they almost inevitably leave a victim unable to work.

The Social Security Administration will review and update the list of conditions reviewable under the Compassionate Allowances program.

Those with Compassionate Allowances still may want legal help

The Social Security Administration has its own technology and process to help it identify when a person is eligible for the Compassionate Allowances program.

However, this does not mean that someone with a qualifying medical condition will not want the assistance of an attorney with experience in handling Social Security claims at their side.

After all, getting a monthly disability check can often be the difference between a disabled person’s struggling financially and being able to make ends meet.
